It might be Late, but it's still Free!
Some of you might remember the Filter^'s keen interest in Lawrence Lessig's Free Culture. Some of you might have read it (if not, you can download it, in PDF, here), but I took the audio book route and listened to most of the book on my MP3 player, leaving my hard (and signed!) copy sitting pretty on the shelves.
Where did I get the audio book from? Well, Free Culture was released under the Creative Commons license, which permits noncommercial derivative works. On the day the book was published, AKAM suggested that an audio version could be built, and within days, the whole book was recorded, chapter by chapter, performed by different people, and was available for download! Go here to check them out yourself!
Today, I am pleased, albeit late, to play a small part in this movement by introducing to you a chapter read by Jane Davis of the English department of Liverpool University. Her excellent rendition of Chapter Six of the book can be downloaded here.
