In 1986, a young Scottish manager took over a traditionally great club that had been underachieving. He turned the club around and it dominated English football in the 90s. The man is Alex Ferguson and the club, Manchester United.
In 2002, a young Scottish manager took over another traditionally great club. Now, let's sit back and watch history repeats itself...
In 1983, a young Scottish manager took over a traditionally great club that had been underachieving. The man was Billy McNeill and the club, Manchester City. In 1986 he resigned to take over at another traditionally great club, Aston Villa, and at the end of that season both City and Villa were relegated, a unique double.
The atmosphere at Goodison on Saturday sounded fantastic, and reminded me of my only experience of a Merseyside Derby; stood on the Gwladys Street in the late eighties when a Wayne Clark goal halfway through the first half gave Everton victory, and ended Liverpool’s 20 odd game unbeaten run from the start of the season. The whistling towards the end of the game was so intense that my ears popped, and when Everton won a throw-in deep in injury time the crowd erupted as if they had just scored another goal. As for the reaction at the final whistle… fantastic.
Well done to Everton and keep it up; prove wrong all those who are sure the bubble will eventually burst.
im a celtic fan and i like everton my friend is a bad everton fan but wont take the fact that its a grand old team is a celtic song could u plz give conformation thank you
