"They all think Wayne's a big fat person and eats burgers every day, which he's not, and I don't know where they get it from... It does my head in because people really believe that. His favourite food is lettuce. He loves salad."
After we've been trounced by the Mancs (no Arteta, no Cahill, no Martyn, no VDM,...) switch on Channel Five at 8pm, and let the delightful Colleen McLaughlin provide a window into her life with Wayne Rooney (story from the MEN). Also, be on the lookout for commentators and journalists misquoting the size of Rooney's transfer - with United out of Europe and unlikely to win the Premiership, the absolute maximum we'll receive is about £23m.
Yeah, i started watching that actually. I thought it might be another milestone of trashy television becoming endearing and engaging (in the way that Wife Swap nearly always is). I was a little disappointed. It was nice to see Wayne's old haunts and have a guided tour around some of the sorrier bits of Liverpool (Norris Green and Croxteth) without any kind of middle-class "crap towns" cynicism. But the problem is that, really, she's no Charlotte Church is she. She hasn't actually 'done' or 'achieved' anything (other than pulling a really ugly bloke) and yet people were amazed at how "down to earth" she still was. Why wouldn't she be?
