I'm an Everton fan above all else, and my favourite footballer (assuming Duncan's retired) is Tim Cahill. On Saturday we rushed home from Tesco to get to the pub for the England match, but were delayed for about an hour on the A41 following the escape of two shire horses. Wild horses literally stopped us from seeing kick off.
It's probably a sign that my hearts not really in it - Sven's ineptitude is impossible support and although i'll watch the games and want England to do well the club vs country issue is a non contest. A decision confirmed as Tiny came off the bench to score two goals and send Australia top of group F. Get in!
Classic! And the Japanese goal should have been disallowed.
But come on! Don't tell me you'll experience the same kind of rapport and atmosphere if Cahill scores the winning goal in the World Cuo Final as you would if it was Rooney.

All will be well under McLaren, will it?
Am I right in thinking that no English manager has won the Premier League since its inception?
It occurs to me that it would be easier for a novice like Southgate to manage an international side than a club side: what do you think?

no; yes (and the last English manager to win the FA Cup was Joe Royle in 1995); perhaps - look at Van Basten, Klinsmann.. seem to be doing ok without much experience.. can't think of many examples though but my gut says that some aspects are easier (more breathing space, better players, better coaching staff) but others harder (expectations, having only a few games every 2 years that really matter). I do think Hodgson and Toshack are better internationally than at club level...
